Christofle has been the Paris silversmith since 1830, the house that equipped French palaces, the Orient Express, and the Concorde. The Club 30 collection is its contemporary counterpoint to historic silverplate: Art Deco fluting in polished stainless steel, symmetry set against asymmetry, made for tables that are used rather than admired from a distance.

The champagne bucket is the collection's most useful piece. A discreet silicone base protects stone and wood surfaces and steadies the bucket when it is full and cold; a subtle recess in the body gives wet hands something to hold. It reads as heirloom without reading as museum piece, which is exactly the register a wine country dining room wants.

Why it belongs

Every Napa estate needs a champagne bucket that is not a prop. Sparkling wine opens the evening more often than any other bottle in the valley, from grower Champagne at the table to the local traditional-method wines the valley does so well. The Club 30 holds its temperature, holds its line on the sideboard, and photographs the way silver should: as the quietest luxury in the room.

“The champagne bucket as the quietest luxury in the room.”
